Below are some of the Commercial / Industrial Construction projects that we have recently been involved with:
Edginswell Business Park

Edginswell Business Park has provided a much needed, outstanding quality accommodation. This is encouraging business to the area and, as a result, creating higher value jobs for local people. With offices above a ground floor renal unit this project fulfilled all aspects of the design brief. The project worth £12 million to Main Contractor Mansell was awarded to Davis & Barrett due to their proven impeccable record in delivering projects on time.
With the momentum of this project firmly on Davis & Barrett’s shoulders due to its large masonry content, it was imperative that we hit every target set. This fairly simply construction permitted the fast track programme and with an average of 15 to 20 tradesmen on site we set the bench mark for the rest of the project team to follow.
Brixham Fish Market

The historic fish market at Brixham was lavished with an 8million pounds refurbishment, this was part of Brixham's regeneration scheme which has provided upgraded facilities for the trading of the local resources. The new fish market is a pivotal part of the Brixham regeneration scheme and Davis & Barrett are proud to be associated with it.
The steel frame construction with block work infill provided the canvas for a fast track programme that was right next to the public’s domain. This meant that extreme caution and consideration was required and once again, the Site Supervisor and Management processes where essential to the success of this project that will help create further jobs in the area.
Hinkley Point (EDF)

At Hinkley point we had the privilege to provide the complete building solution, taking the concrete slab and transforming it into a Switch room. Being able to deploy our wide varied resources we were able to supply and undertake the masonry, carpentry and Roofing works. With the obvious safety considerations given to every operation and ensuring compliance with EDF’s procedures, our site supervisor provided the key for the safe execution of this contract.
STW Lord Meadows, Crediton

Working in partnership with Balfour Beatty and South West Water we have been a key part of the team that has constructed an extension to an existing plant room. This extension is to house the essential new plant that will be integral to the Sewage Treatment Works operation. Providing a complete service that includes Brick, blockwork, Scaffold, Carpentry, Roofing and double glazing we have been able to satisfy another customer with our broad array of skills and knowledge.
Purton Water Treatment Works

Davis & Barrett have been selected to become part of the team that will create the UV treatment Plant building at Purton.
This new building will provide Bristol Water the facilities to provide clean safe drinking water.
Providing our services to undertake the Brick laying, Carpentry and Plaster works we are pleased to continue our long standing relationship with Dean & Dyball.
Bideford Cantilever

The works comprise the demolition of the existing reinforced concrete cantilever walkway at New Road and construction of a new sheet piled, rock anchored, reinforced concrete-faced retaining wall to replace it. The existing cantilever walkway overhangs the River Torridge and comprises reinforced concrete longitudinal beams and slabs supported on transverse beams that protrude through the existing river wall.
The new footpath is founded on a rock anchored sheet pile wall faced with a reinforced concrete, Davis & Barrett are to provide their expertise to face this concrete with Local stone. Working within the tidal re-straights we are once again using our experiences and diversity to provide our new customer with the satisfaction we aim for.
Viridor Offices, Firepool

Davis & Barrett are proud to be part of the first commercial building on the long awaited 17-acre Fire pool site. This is a key milestone for Taunton, one of the largest town centre projects currently underway in the South West.
The building will form part of the first phase of development at Fire pool, which includes plans to transform the 4.5 acre Priory Bridge Road car park located next to the River Tone into 113,000 sq ft of office space, a hotel and 49 apartments. As part of the works, St. Modwen is also delivering a series of enhancement works around the River Tone, which will feature a new River Park setting.
Davis & Barrett are pleased to announce that they have been selected to deliver the brickwork block work package, being involved from an early stage to coordinate access and distribution will be key to achieving a successful building.
We a truly proud to be part of this impressive development within our home town.
