This project involves the construction of a new two storey medical centre with consulting areas and treatment rooms. The new centre will replace an existing surgery and incorporate additional complementary services in order to create a new service led facility for Patients and people of Westbury.
Davis & Barrett are pleased to be part of delivering this service, undertaking the brick and block work package to this prominently brick clad surgery.
Locking Parklands
 
This Former RAF training school is being developed to provide new business opportunities, up to 1800 new homes and a range of leisure, education and community facilities. Davis & Barrett are pleased to announce that our new customer St Modwen have awarded us the first phase of this development. The unique blend of properties will see Davis & Barrett become part of the team that will create a highly sustainable, integrated, mixed use community.
Providing a tailored masonry package including brick, stone and block work we will be providing our high levels of quality and customer service in all these disciplines.
Viridor Offices, Firepool
 
Davis & Barrett are proud to be part of the first commercial building on the long awaited 17-acre Fire pool site. This is a key milestone for Taunton, one of the largest town centre projects currently underway in the South West.
The building will form part of the first phase of development at Fire pool, which includes plans to transform the 4.5 acre Priory Bridge Road car park located next to the River Tone into 113,000 sq ft of office space, a hotel and 49 apartments. As part of the works, St. Modwen is also delivering a series of enhancement works around the River Tone, which will feature a new River Park setting.
Davis & Barrett are pleased to announce that they have been selected to deliver the brickwork block work package, being involved from an early stage to coordinate access and distribution will be key to achieving a successful building.

Marine Building, Plymouth University
 
This £19 million marine building will house state-of the art research facilities including the most advanced wave tank and testing facilities in the country. Opening in spring 2012, it will position Plymouth as a global centre for marine energy research, harness innovation and help diversify and drive economic growth.
Davis & Barrett have recently been awarded the masonry package which includes plant rooms, internal walls and forming the facades. Davis & Barrett are excited to be part of this landmark building that will endorse Plymouth’s role as a leading marine centre in Europe.
Exeter College
 
Davis & Barrett are pleased to be providing the masonry package for Mansell at the Technology Centre on the outskirts of Exeter.
The new facility will provide industry-led teaching space, workshops and laboratories for both practical and academic learning for around 300 students from across Exeter and Devon.
The centre will house technical workshops and classrooms including an MOT testing bay, garage workshop area for the repair, maintenance and servicing of motor vehicles and motorcycles. A CADCAM Engineering IT suite, diagnostic testing labs and a three-storey learning and IT centre will complete the centre.
Richard Huish College
 
Following the success of the last teaching block (see project details in education menu) we are now on site constructing the brick and block work to the new two storey teaching block to the east of the college campus. Utilizing traditional methods our works will be critical to the programme with the floor and roofing dates to meet.
Davis & Barrett believe there is always room for improvement, building within the college for the second time we are striving to provide an even better more efficient service than last.
Purton Water Treatment Works
 
Davis & Barrett have been selected to become part of the team that will create the UV treatment Plant building at Purton. This new building will provide Bristol Water the facilities to provide clean safe drinking water.
Providing our services to undertake the Brick laying, Carpentry and Plaster works we are pleased to continue our long standing relationship with Dean & Dyball.
Bideford Cantilever
 
The works comprise the demolition of the existing reinforced concrete cantilever walkway at New Road and construction of a new sheet piled, rock anchored, reinforced concrete-faced retaining wall to replace it. The existing cantilever walkway overhangs the River Torridge and comprises reinforced concrete longitudinal beams and slabs supported on transverse beams that protrude through the existing river wall.
The new footpath is founded on a rock anchored sheet pile wall faced with a reinforced concrete, Davis & Barrett are to provide their expertise to face this concrete with Local stone. Working within the tidal re-straights we are once again using our experiences and diversity to provide our new customer with the satisfaction we aim for.
Gatchell Meadows Residences
 
This impressive residence in the exclusive cud-de-sac in Trull provides the creative background for our masons to sculpt this prestige’s home. Working with local stones and natural lime mortars the heritage of Davis & Barrett’s tradesman is displayed in this project. With multiple roof levels and a number of stone features/quarks our experience with the details and materials will prove essential to the success of this project.
Rosewood Farm, Burnham On Sea
 
Rosewood Farm is situated within the town of Burnham On Sea, this housing development sits on the eastern side of an established residential area. The development offers a range of two and three bedroom properties all constructed utilizing traditional methods. Davis & Barrett’s ability to fluctuate resources yet maintain the highest quality standards has more than contributed to constructing some of the highest quality Homes in the South West.
Stratton Hospital, Bude
 
Stratton hospital which opened in 1866 is one of the oldest community hospitals in the country. This project involves updating the facilities both in a refurbishment phase and a new build. The first phase involves re-modelling the existing building and will see improvements to the physiotherapy department, minor injuries and x-ray department. The second phase involves re-building and extending the existing facilities to provide additional outpatient facilities.
Culdrose Phase 2, Helston
 
With phase 2 hanger now begun Davis & Barrett have returned to Helston to undertake these masonry works that are similar to last year’s phase. Returning the second time everyone in the team is looking forward to implementing the plans that have already been put into place that will see the works undertaken even more efficiently than last time.
